Letter from the Director

The past six months have gone by in a blur of activity and success stories. The Pet Network staff has been working tirelessly to increase the number of animals we save from euthanasia. Through collaboration with other rescue groups and with local animal control agencies we have dramatically increased our life saving capacity. That of course wouldn’t be possible without the support of our community! From the outstanding support we receive from local businesses like the North Lake Tahoe Bonanza, Village Square Family and Raley’s (not to mention our wonderful Fur Ball sponsors) to the fantastic support we receive from the dedicated animal lovers within the community, saving animals at Pet Network is truly a team effort.

This newsletter is dedicated to everyone who makes our work possible; our volunteers, staff, board, and supporters who have helped us save the more than 6,500 animals since our beginning a few short years ago. We face many challenges as we move forward. Economic hardships, logistical challenges and resource limitations are just a few examples. Our dedicated and passionate board and staff are committed to meeting and beating those challenges. We know the homeless and neglected animals in our community are depending on us to overcome whatever obstacles we encounter.

So as you look through this newsletter, think of some way you can help us succeed in our endeavors. Here are just a few ways you can help:

Make a financial donation. Each animal we save costs Pet Network around $375, so your donations are much needed and appreciated.
Donate canned cat food. Kitties have a very hard time adjusting to shelter life. A can of cat food is a wonderful treat, but too expensive for us to purchase.
Donate dry kitten food and canned kitten food. From May to October we experience a dramatic increase in the number of nursing moms and kittens – we don’t have a ready source for donated kitten food.
Give us a gas card. Only two trips to the animal shelter to save animals from euthanasia costs Pet Network more than $100 in gas!
Sponsor us in whatever way you can. Sponsor a page in the newsletter, sponsor a cat condo or dog kennel, sponsor a boarding kennel, hold an event to raise funds at your home, at your business.
Purchase your pet supplies from us. All the funds from our Incline Canine Pet Store support our rescue and rehabilitation.
Board with us. What better and safer place to leave your pet than in the hands of people who have dedicated their lives to saving animals? All proceeds from our boarding support our rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
Adopt from us. Have a pet? Make it two. Have a couple…one more won’t hurt!
Foster. Animals need a break from the shelter. Fostering presents the best opportunity for you to help a shelter pet, without the lifetime commitment. Whether it is a week or six weeks, getting an animal out of the shelter helps them, and helps us.

Thank you for all that you do for animals in need!
