- Volunteer & Foster | Pet Network
We need your support to continue our impact! Come volunteer with us or foster a pet to support our mission at Pet Network. Volunteer Foster Volunteer With Us Already a volunteer? Volunteer Login Pet Network Humane Society relies on the generosity and support of our dedicated volunteers, donors, and community partners. Your contribution helps to fulfill Pet Network's mission to save the lives of adoptable dogs and cats across the region. The animals we rescue from overcrowded shelters across Nevada, and beyond need much more than just food, shelter, and medical care. As a volunteer with us, you can show love, enrich, and exercise the animals during their stay with us - which not only benefits the animals but it feels darn good for you too! No special skills are needed, just compassion, patience, and the desire to learn. We provide all necessary training. Interested in volunteering to help the animals at Pet Network? Please email us for community service inquiries. What can I expect when I adopt an animal from Pet Network? You can expect a warm Adopters Welcome approach to companionship where each adoption is filled with resources to set an adopter up for success. For more information about adopters welcome, click here. Is the animal that I am adopting altered and/or vaccinated? YES! Every animal that leaves our care will be microchipped, dewormed, given flea/tick prevention, spay/neutered, and vaccinated (based on age and length of stay). If I am interested in adopting an animal from you, can you hold them for me? No, unfortunately we do not place holds on any of our animals and all animals are on a first come first serve basis. Why are some animals priced higher than others? Some animals may have a higher adoption fee to help support other animals in their journey to finding a home. What is Pet Network’s commitment to their animals? Pet Network is dedicated to placing all healthy and safe animals into loving homes. We remain committed to these animals and will never euthanize an animal due to time or space constraints. In instances where an animal is suffering with an incurable or untreatable condition with no likelihood of recovery, or exhibits behaviors that make it unsafe for the community, euthanasia may be thoughtfully considered as the most compassionate, humane and/or safest option for the animal and larger community. In addition, Pet Network’s pledge to care for every animal that we place in a home remains in effect indefinitely - we will always welcome an animal back no matter how much time has passed. A crucial piece in that goal is our foster program. Fosters temporarily house animals in their own homes and provide care to those animals. Being a foster parent is an extremely rewarding and important selfless act that enhances the lives of our shelter pets. Animals can go into foster care for many reasons, such as: Illness/recovery from an illness Reduce amount of time spent in the shelter Pregnant/nursing mothers and their litters Orphaned kittens and puppies Animals too young for spay/neuter Animals who need socialization Animals with behavior needs Senior animals Fostering allows you to have the companionship of an animal, without the lifelong commitment of a pet ownership-- an option great for seasonal residents! Additionally, Pet Network provides the majority of essentials for providing care to the animals. This includes items such as food, medication, litter/boxes, and more. We also provide veterinary care to all animals in our foster program. Getting started: Watch this video below for a quick introduction to our Foster Program. It's never been easier to help us save lives! Mountain Buddies is closed for the season. We can't wait to adventure with you next year. What can I expect when I adopt an animal from Pet Network?
