At Pet Network, we understand that giving up a pet can be a very hard choice. We are here to provide support to keep pets out of the shelter and in loving homes. What support do I need to keep my pet? We want to help you and your pet stay together if at all possible, and we understand that emergencies and difficult situations are a part of life. We offer pet food assistance, training and behavioral resources, and affordable vet care. Could one of my friends or family members take my pet? Try asking people you know; somebody who is already familiar with your pet and their likes, dislikes, and behavior might be more easily able to adopt them or keep them temporarily. Being able to visit or check on how your pet is doing is always a plus! What if I want to choose my pet’s new family? There are lots of websites that help you find a new home for your pet if keeping them with you just won’t work. You can use a site like Home to Home, or Rehome, or use social media outlets like Nextdoor or Facebook; this group, and this group are great starting points. Petfinder also has some great tips for rehoming and how to minimize stress during the transition period. I’ve tried everything else, and I need to surrender my pet to a shelter Where did you originally adopt your pet from? Many rescues or shelters require or encourage you to bring the animal back if you’re not able to care for it. Pet Network will accept a return of an animal adopted from us, no matter how long ago the adoption was. Please give us a call at 775-832-4404 ext. 100 if this is the case so we can help! If your pet was not adopted from Pet Network, please read the requirements below to see if your pet qualifies for surrender through our shelter. Requirements and conditions for surrender to Pet Network (must read prior to completing questionnaire) Surrender is by appointment only. You must be the legal owner of the pet you are surrendering and over the age of 18. You must live within Incline Village, NV (Don't live in Incline? Please contact Nevada Humane Society or SPCA of Northern Nevada to discuss surrendering your pet; otherwise a list of shelters near you can be found here). Completion of the questionnaire does not guarantee acceptance of your pet. Due to limited capacity, we are not able to keep you up-to-date on your surrendered pet's adoption status. Pet Network does not guarantee placement of any animal or the length of time the animal will be held for adoption. To begin the process of surrendering to Pet Network, please complete either the cat questionnaire or dog questionnaire and a staff member will reach out to you within 72 hours. Can you recommend a good dog trainer? Finding the right dog trainer is an important step in ensuring a happy and well-adjusted canine companion. Every dog is unique, with its own personality, temperament and learning style. That is why it is essential to choose a trainer who understands the importance of personalized training tailored to your dog’s specific needs. Look for trainers who are certified by reputable organizations, provide positive reinforcement methods only, and have experience with a variety of breeds and behavioral issues. Seek out recommendations from other pet owners and read reviews to get a sense of a trainer’s reputation and success with other dogs. Finding the right pet sitter is crucial to ensuring your furry friend feels safe, loved and well-cared for while you are away. Just like people, every pet has its own unique personality, needs and routines. Therefore, choosing a pet sitter who offers personalized care tailored to your pet’s specific needs is essential for their well-being. ASPCA Another national organization that investigates cruelty and violence against animals on a national level and has many owner resources available. Pet Food Bank Pet Network is proud to offer free pet food for community members in need of support. This operates on a "no questions asked" basis and is available to all. Every animal that leaves our care will be microchipped, dewormed, given flea/tick prevention, spay/neutered, and vaccinated (based on age and length of stay). If I am interested in adopting an animal from you, can you hold them for me? No, unfortunately we do not place holds on any of our animals and all animals are on a first come first serve basis. Why are some animals priced higher than others? Some animals may have a higher adoption fee to help support other animals in their journey to finding a home. What is Pet Network’s commitment to their animals? Pet Network is dedicated to placing all healthy and safe animals into loving homes. We remain committed to these animals and will never euthanize an animal due to time or space constraints. In instances where an animal is suffering with an incurable or untreatable condition with no likelihood of recovery, or exhibits behaviors that make it unsafe for the community, euthanasia may be thoughtfully considered as the most compassionate, humane and/or safest option for the animal and larger community.     For after-hours urgent medical concerns, we have partnered with VetTriage to offer live video teletriage services. VetTriage veterinarians are available 24/7 to assess your pet over a live video chat for a small fee of $50. They can help determine whether your pet needs immediate emergency care or can be safely monitored at home until we reopen. For safety, all pets must be kept on leash or in a carrier while at Pet Network, if you do not have a carrier or leash you may purchase one for $3. Please bring any medical records available to the appointment or email them to communityhospital@petnetwork.org prior to the appointment. If you are late to your appointment you may be asked to reschedule, a deposit will be charged to reschedule any missed appointments. No show No call will be charged for the cost of the exam. Appointments are limited to 3 people (including children) during the exam as our space is limited. Focus will be on the Pet scheduled for the appointment. If you have questions about another pet in your household we ask that you make a separate appointment to allow for sufficient time to treat each pet. Director of Community Medicine Dr. Nicholas Robl, DVM Dr. Nick Robl completed his D.V.M. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2013 following an M.A. in Biological Anthropology from Kent State University in Ohio. He has experience practicing veterinary medicine in a variety of settings including private practice, sanctuaries, shelters, and clinics across the United States. Dr. Robl has a strong background in veterinary surgery, dentistry, internal medicine, and specialized orthopedic procedures. He has also performed research and wildlife veterinary work around the world including work in Indonesia, Cambodia, Rwanda, D. R. Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Colombia, Peru, Brazil and Suriname. Hospital Medical Director Dr. Marlène Tremblay, DVM, PhD. Dr. Tremblay received her D.V.M from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2013 followed by a Public Health & Epidemiology Research Internship. She received a PhD in epidemiology and data science from Utrecht University in 2019. Dr. Tremblay has worked as a veterinarian at a variety of shelters and non-profit organizations. Her interests include surgery, behavioral medicine, and helping animal welfare organizations implement data-supported strategies. Her goal is to integrate population medicine with individualized medicine to optimize outcomes in shelters. Licensed Veterinary Technician Kristie Fairbanks Kristie joined the Pet Network Community hospital team in 2023. She completed her Bachelor degree in Animal Science from the University of Vermont in 2010 and has been working in the veterinary field since. She became a credentialed Veterinary technician in 2018 and has a special interest in anesthesia and pain management. She is happy to have found an organization whose mission aligns with her own values. Veterinary Assistant Devan Zamora Devan has worked in animal welfare for almost 8 years and for a few different organizations. In 2024 he took on the role of Veterinarian Assistant for Pet Network's Community Hospital. Devan is thankful to continue his work with animals and hopes to make a positive impact for the pets of Incline Village. Veterinary Assistant Felicia Pulsifer I’m working toward my bachelor’s degree in Animal Care and Behavior as well as working towards becoming a certified wildlife rehabilitator. I have been involved in animal welfare for years, starting out working in a zoo during high school, I spent several years at pet stores and daycare facilities before switching to working at Pet Network Humane Society in 2023. I started in the veterinary field in 2024. I’m passionate about caring for animals, learning about their behavior, and supporting wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. Client Service Representative Abby Folker Abby began her career in animal welfare at Pet Network Community Hospital in the spring of 2025. She has an educational background in conflict resolution and a professional background in nonprofit programming and administration. She values empathy and working towards larger organizational missions and finds the quality veterinary care Pet Network provides to all its patients - both shelter and community - especially inspiring! Abby is both a people and pet person and aims to make the transfer of knowledge and care for all community hospital patients as seamless as possible. In her free time, you can find Abby exploring the Sierras with her pup Padfoot or curled up crocheting with her cat Margot.
